«Un caillou dans une godasse»

Né en 1959 au Liban, Paul Zgheib obtient son diplôme en photographie à l’EFET (Paris). Professeur à l’USEK, il a présenté, depuis 1985, plusieurs expositions individuelles au Liban et en France, dont la dernière, «Ce que l’oiseau noir m’a raconté», a eu lieu à l’Espace SD en octobre 2000. Il a également participé à de nombreuses expositions collectives au Liban, en France, à Monte Carlo et en Allemagne. En 1998, il a obtenu le prix du Mois de la photo, exposition organisée par la Maison Européenne de la Photographie en collaboration avec le gouvernement libanais.
«Un caillou dans une godasse» est un ensemble de photographies où Paul Zgheib aborde la question de la dualité de Beyrouth à travers une approche conceptuelle. A partir d’une donnée en noir et blanc, il établit une reconstruction chimique du support qui provoque une réalité duochromatique.

Born in Lebanon in 1959, Paul Zgheib graduated in photography from the french school EFET (Paris). He is now a teacher at USEK and presented various exhibitions since 1985, in Lebanon and in France. The last one was already held at Espace SD, in october 2000. He also participated in collective exhibitions in Lebanon, France, Monte Carlo and Germany. In 1998, he won the price of the Mois de la photo, that took place in Lebanon in collaboration with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie.
«Un caillou dans une godasse» (A pebble in a shoe) is a panel of photographies with a conceptual approach, where Paul Zgheib deals with the question of the duality of Beirut. Starting from black and white shots, he works on a chemical reconstruction of the support, that leads to a dichromatic reality.
